Het Utrechts Stadsleger is a group devoted to building a player community for historic war and strategy games (paper, not miniatures). These games attempt to showcase the military, economic and/or political aspects of historical conflict on tactical, operational or strategic scale. Examples are Combat Commander, Friedrich or Here I Stand but our interests are much wider.

We meet once a month (typically the third Saturday of the month) at the game shop Het Lab in Utrecht. We started in 2022 and have 70+ members. If you are interested, have a look at our website where you can also sign up to become a member. Our ‘official’ language is English as we have non-Dutch members, but most members speak Dutch too.

Het Utrechtse stadsleger (citizen army of Utrecht) refers to medieval times when Utrecht was a walled city run by its guilds and independent from the earldom of Holland to the west and the dukedom of Gelre to the east. This group aims to bring people together around a gaming table and consequently has a regional focus. However, people from Holland and Gelre are welcome too!
